Lighter 2018 Ford Expedition is Ready For the Long Haul

While there aren’t quite as many body-on-frame SUVs on the market as there once were, that hasn’t stopped people from buying them, and thus, automakers from producing them. One such example is the Ford Expedition, which arrives all-new for the 2018 model year with aluminum skin, and a whole arsenal of new tech.

Given that body-on-frame SUVs have a spiritual tie to pickup trucks, it doesn’t surprise us to learn that the Expedition has lightweight aluminum skin a la the F-150. This sheds 300 lbs, which will make life a little easier for the all-new 3.5-liter twin-turbo V6. Power numbers aren’t available for this mill yet, but if it makes anything like the 375 hp and 470 lb-ft of twist found in other applications, we’ll be more than happy. Check out the video above to learn more.

To check out the new Expedition, you have a bit of time to wait. It won’t be arriving at our Ford dealership in Hanford, CA until this autumn. However, if you have current automotive needs to be seen to, call us up!
