There's an all-new Ford Mustang Shelby GT500, and it's taking charge in the America's best performing muscle car.

Originally introduced in 1967, the Mustang Shelby GT500 was a high-performance variant of the iconic pony car with more power and track-centric features. It lived up to the "racecar for the street" stereotype in many ways. The all-new 2020 model carries on that approach with cutting-edge technology and modern Ford Performance engineering.

The 2020 Mustang Shelby GT500 rides on the same platform and suspensions setup as the Mustang Shelby GT350 that was introduced a few years ago. So, you can expect tight, precise handling for track use and back-road enjoyment. But, as you would expect, the star of the show is under the hood.

Again, the new Mustang Shelby GT500 borrows from the Mustang Shelby GT350 for its powertrain. But this time, Ford has added a supercharger and other upgrades to the 5.2-liter flat-plane-crank V8. The result is a 234-horsepower jump up to 760 horsepower. A standard seven-speed dual-clutch transmission happily helps this monstrous powertrain rev up to 7,500 rpm.

This world-class performance doesn't come at the expense of comfort or convenience, however. A well-appointed cockpit is ready to keep you happy during your daily commute, and a sizeable trunk provides some cargo flexibility as well. The new Mustang Shelby GT500 even comes with Ford SYNC infotainment.
