Ford recently introduced the ever-popular F-150 as an all-electric pickup called Lightening. The company reports that the latest version of the full-size truck boasts the best performance compared to its gas-powered sibling. The vehicles are expected at our Keller Ford Lincoln dealership in Hanford in the spring of 2022, where Fresno car-buyers can get a close-up look and go for a test drive.

Performance

Lightning models available in Tulare are manufactured with dual motors and a standard or an extended-range battery pack. The truck delivers 563 horsepower and 775 pound-feet of torque when equipped with the extended-range pack. The vehicle capably goes from zero to 60 mph in approximately 4.5 seconds. Four drive modes enable the trucks to travel in normal, sport, off-road, or tow/haul options. The pickups also get an independent rear suspension, ensuring a smoother, quieter ride.

The F-150 Lightning has a rated towing capability of up to 10,000 pounds with extended range and carries up to 2,000-pounds. Our Lemoore pickups have a standard-range battery pack that travels up to 230 miles on a full charge. The extended-range version lengthens the journey to 300 miles.

Technology

Drivers get a 12-inch full-color instrument panel. The infotainment system gets an expansive 15.5-inch touchscreen, smartphone integration, AM/FM radio, and a six-speaker stereo. A BlueCruise software feature enables hands-free driving.

Software automatically upgrades through a Wi-Fi hotspot to conveniently improve all system technologies.

Ford also offers the 2022 Lightning pickups with Pro Trailer Hitch Assist. The technology controls vehicle speed, steering, and braking when hooking up a trailer. An onboard scale tells the driver how much the truck is carrying in payload and mileage estimates.

The extended-range electrical system even allows F-150 Lightning owners in Hanford to power their homes for as long as three days in case of a power outage or emergency. The power resource lasts up to 10 days when rationed accordingly. Household-style electrical outlets in the cab and bed provide sufficient power required to use tools or standard appliances.
